I live in Bath, which is a beautiful city, and have been taking pictures since
my late teens. At that time I took an evening
class in basic photography and set up a darkroom in the kitchen of my very small
flat and used to wash prints in the
shared bathroom. After marriage and kids I found it hard to pursue my hobby
due to time, cash constraints and never
having a free bedroom to devote to a darkroom. As the children grew up and left
for University I was again able to
set-up a darkroom and began to take my hobby seriously. I took an A level at
my local technical college and managed
to obtain an grade A. But it wasn't until I joined the Bath Photographic Society
that my photographic skills began to
improve and I would advise anyone who has an interest in improving their pictures,
to join a local club. After a number
of years entering competitions, I sent an entry to the Photographic Alliance
of Great Britain and was awarded a
Distinction (DPAGB).
When I started processing pictures I used various darkroom techniques but now
I am entirely digital and a committed
Nikon man. I have a D300 which I use most of the time and a D200 that I use
with my long lens at weddings. I print
on an Epson 3800 A2 inkjet printer with Fotospeed paper and Epson archival inks.
